Application deadline for the following scholarships are approaching.
Gene Del Polito Honorary Scholarship
Dr. Gene Del Polito has donated a $2,000 scholarship for the year 2007 to be awarded to a student pursuing a college education, and who truly has financial aid. Applicants must meet all guidelines. The application package must be completed in full and submitted to the appropriate state on time. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. Application deadline is May, 2008.
Iowa RLCA Auxliary Scholarship
This is the second year the Iowa RLCA Auxiliary has offered this scholarship. Recipients should be a child or grandchild of an Iowa RLCA member in good standing. Applications will be reviewed at the state convention by the Scholarship Committee. Awards will be announced at the Tuesday nigh banquet. The parents or grandparents of the scholarship recipients are requested to be present at the state convention banquet. Application deadline is May 20, 2008.

Clara
Gardner-Burch Scholarship
Two $500 scholarships will be awarded annually. One scholarship each will be awarded to a boy and a girl
who are pursuing a post-secondary education. If there is no qualified applicant in a category, none will be awarded. The scholarship
will be awarded on the basis of need and the desire to pursue higher education and a career. Application deadline is March 1, 2008.
GMAC
Insurance Company Scholarship
GMAC Insurance Company has established a scholarship fund from which a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded
annually to a high school graduate or a student already pursuing higher education. It shall be called the “Rural Letter Carriers'
Vehicle and Home Insurance Plan Scholarship.” Application deadline is March 1, 2008.
The Hazel Whitney Estate has established a scholarship fund in the amount of $10,000 from which a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a high school graduate or a student already pursuing higher education. This scholarship will continue until the funds are exhausted. Application deadline is March 1, 2008.
Marie V. Mutchmore Scholarship
The Marie V. Muchmore Scholarship is awarded to a child of a rural letter
carrier – regular, retired or substitute – who is a member in good standing of the NRLCA and whose spouse is a member of the NRLCA
Auxiliary. The child must be pursuing or planning to pursue post-secondary education at a college, university, or technical-vocational
school. Application deadline is March 1, 2008.
NRLCA Auxiliary Discovery Scholarship
The NRLCA Auxiliary Discovery Scholarship
is awarded annually to a son, daughter or grandchild of a rural letter carrier who is a member of the NRLCA, and whose spouse is a
member of the NRLCA Auxiliary. Application deadline is March 1, 2008.
Steven R. Smith has placed in trust
a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded annually to a high school graduate or a student already pursuing higher education. This scholarship,
established in 1992 shall be for 30 years, lasting until the year 2021. Application deadline is March 1, 2008.
GMAC Insurance has established a scholarship fund in the name of “Shirley Corno” in the amount of $10,000. Two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded at the 2007 NRLCA National Convention. The scholarship will be awarded to a high school graduate or student already pursuing higher education. Application deadline is March 1, 2008.
